Integrating Comments into Blogger and WordPress

Hi, this is Olga blogging. Since I'm the least noticeable person at JS-Kit, I thought I should briefly introduce myself. I am that very wife of Lev, who was the first to benefit from JS-Kit's elegant solution to commenting problem. My interests lie in the area of UI design and usability, and here at JS-Kit I am mostly involved with the website and interface testing.

Back to the beginning... Introduced in 2006 as a small and easy to embed widget, JS-Kit Comments has quickly gained popularity. Web publishers striving to create the best possible environments for their online communities wanted tons of different features. By listening to our customers, JS-Kit team has created a commenting service with many exciting features not available elsewhere.

At some point in our evolution we decided to put together a complete list of features and components of the Comments service. We focused really hard not to miss anything and came up with three pages of bullet points, which looked very impressive but hardly useful. Simply listing a feature didn't provide any insight into its operation and the range of its capabilities, which are not always obvious.

Then we decided to start this blog to help you, our customers, get the most out of JS-Kit Comments' set of sophisticated features. Lev has already walked you through its extensive moderation capabilities. In this article I would like to address another important aspect - integration of JS-Kit Comments into existing blogging platforms.

Replacing a built-in component of your site with a third-party tool usually brings many concerns. First of all you want to retain the current database of your visitors' valuable comments. You want to be sure that your comments do not "break" and disappear one day. And if for some reason the third-party tool doesn't work for you, you want to be able to switch back without losing the comments again.

To make integration process easy and worry-free our team has developed Blogger and WordPress integration tools. They do two things:

  1. Save all existing comments from your Blogger or WordPress-driven blog into JS-Kit database.
  2. Activate live synchronization of JS-Kit comments with your blogging platform.

Live synchronization means that every time your visitor leaves a comment on your blog using JS-Kit interface, the comment is instantly copied to the database of comments on your blog's server. Should you decide to disable JS-Kit Comments on your blog, all your comments would show up in the standard Blogger/WordPress interface.

If you want to try JS-Kit Comments on your blog, see our revised FAQ for guidelines on Blogger and WordPress integration.

May the force be with you and your blog!
